A very special Happy Birthday & Thank You to Barb, our Youth Leader. Barb is graciously spending her birthday (Tuesday, July 13) doing God's work with a great group of youth and leaders from Christ United Methodist Church. You are the best!!
Jackie and I made it back to the states easily. However, two hours will be a quick turn around time to get from the International terminal to the Domestic flight terminal in Phoenix - many steps in the process of re-entering the US - so be tight and organized, youth, when you return home!
I miss the kids and the youth already and - you'd never guess it - I miss the heat and humidity!! Yes, I feel life is already so easy here; I miss the challenge that comes with coping each day with adversity (haven't been to work yet, though!).
You Youth are such a great group; Barb and Jackie and I reviewed the trip while waiting to board our plane. We all were so thankful you folks are as kind, group-oriented, and selfless as you are. Everyone has excellent "Expedition Behavior" or EB, as we called it back at NOLS. You are a great group to work with: KEEP LOOKING OUT FOR, and supporting, each other no matter what!
Savor every moment: the heat, the dirt, the dang flies, the funky beatles that crash into you at night, the low water pressure, cold showers, TP in the waste basket, frijoles for every meal, warm Gatorade 1 hour after it comes out of the freezer, bolis, kids with only one pair of shoes, smiles that shine with God's grace, and your sore and sundburned bodies. For it is this energy that makes life so exciting. It makes for a rich life that lasts WAY longer than money ever could. God Bless you all!!
