Wed 7 JUL 2010

Hey this is Catherine and Desi! We're having a blast in Mexico! The kids are adroable and so sweet! They all have fun doing normal kid things, but they are also really appreciative of everything they have. They are always willing to help with anything.
Today in our work group we've been painting the girl's dorm room, a peach color! All the buildings here are very colorful. There's a yellow dining hall, a blue boy's dorm, and a peach girl's dorm. They also have fun cartoons and bible verses on the sides of the buildings.
Last night after we finished working we had a party! For dinner we had hambugers which are a special treat for the kids. Then they all got crocs and trophies which they were very excited about! It was really fun to see how such simple things made them so happy!
It is really, really hot and humid here! But as time goes on we're starting to get used to the heat.
We're looking forward to an amazing two weeks!!
-Love Catherine and Desi
Hi this is Scott!
I'm having a lot of fun at Hogar de Ninos, but I am also working really hard to make a difference in this community! The little children here are definitely a handful, but they are also very loving kids in need of some help! Today we laid down a thick layer of cement around the dining hall and everyone was so excited to get their new patio! We are eating delicious Mexican cuisine like rolled tacos! We gave the kids a new trampoline and they haven't gotten off of it since we've been here! They love it! I'm really excited to continue my assistance in this wonderful community!
-Love your beautiful son of God, Scott McKinstry

  2. God's Blessings from Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. God is using you all for great things in Mexico. It seems like yesterday when I was at Casa Hogar creating relationship with Americans and Mexicans alike. Enjoy your time and come back safely to share the joy and excitement of your trip!
